Dell has joined the HyperTransport Technology Consortium, and will make use of HyperTransport technology in a number of its server and desktop product lines.

Dell has joined the HyperTransport Technology Consortium, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to developing, promoting and licensing the industry's lowest latency, highest bandwidth interconnect technology The PC maker has joined as a high-level member and will make use of HyperTransport technology in a number of its server and desktop product lines

HyperTransport technology is a CPU-native interconnect standard that delivers efficient high throughput with minimum latency between multiple devices including chassis, motherboards and chips.

This interconnect technology is designed to support high-performance appliances, embedded systems, networking systems, PCs, workstations, gaming systems, servers and supercomputers.

"Our enterprise customers expect standards-based solutions that deliver top performance and processor scalability, combined with optimised cost of ownership", says Kevin Kettler, Chief Technology Officer, Dell.
