Hypertac's new 500A quick-release single pole connector, an addition to the HBN series, is 30% smaller than similarly rated connectors and has an easy-to-use quick release mechanism.

In the cramped environment of a fighting vehicle, space is limited and connectors can be difficult to manipulate Hypertac's new 500A quick-release single pole connector, an addition to the HBN series, is 30% smaller than similarly rated connectors and has an easy-to-use quick release mechanism

The space saving is achieved using the company's unique Hyperboloid contact technology which facilitates the use of multiple conductors.

It keeps typical contact resistance as low as 0.04mohm in this product.

Hyperboloid contacts are formed by hyperbolically arranging contact wires, which wrap around the mating pin to form a multitude of contact lines at the interface.

This provides a contact interface this is inherently reliable whilst providing performance characteristics that are desirable when connecting high current applications.

For instance, low force and low contact resistance over a high number of mating cycles.

The new rugged connector is designed for external or internal military applications and has a self-guiding mate and demate latch mechanism.

The technology is scalable to meet different space and power requirements.

The basic 500A version measures 40mm and various Mil-spec environmentally protective plating finishes are available.

HBN connectors are fully insulated, completely EMI screened and include a 12-position, 90-degree backshell port exit option.

The panel mounted receptacle and plug are manufactured from high strength aluminium.

The contacts are machined from copper and are gold to minimise interface resistance.

The exposed pin is insulated for safety with a plastic cap on the nose of the power pin.
