Backplane meets latest switch fabric specs
Hybricon Corp has a new backplane that complies with the latest PICMG 2.18 specification, which was approved and released in June 2004.
The power dissipation levels of today's high power VITA 1.7 VME64x, VXS and CompactPCI switch fabric boards just keep increasing; in the past few years power dissipation in the 50-60W range was the norm, now the range is increasing to 75-100W.
Up until now, these 75-100W boards could only be adequately cooled in high performance full sized rack mount enclosures.
Thermal analysis shows that this can now be accomplished in Hybricon's portable tower style enclosure.
Thermal simulation of the Cool-H Tower shows an average airflow of 507 litre/min per front slot, sufficient to cool up to 100W per slot.
The Cool-H towers are available with Hybricon's eight-slot VITA 1.7 VME64x or CompactPCI switch fabric backplane.
Hybricon's backplanes have been computer simulated in Hybricon's signal integrity laboratory to ensure low signal crosstalk and trouble-free system operation.
The enclosures are available with up to 800W of power.
