Imagination Technologies is demonstrating advanced hardware curved surface support on its PowerVR MBX embedded graphics core this week at GDC Expo 2004 in San Jose, California.
Multithreaded core to gain new compiler
Imagination Technologies is using the CoSy compiler development system from ACE Associated Compiler Experts, as the basis of the next generation compiler for the Meta multithreaded processor core.
Hardware on display will include a Texas Instruments OMAP2420 development board running Symbian OS and the latest OMAP2420 enabled handsets from leading manufacturers.
PowerVR MBX is a unique graphics acceleration technology that delivers console-level 3D graphics on mobile phones and embedded devices via full support for leading APIs including OpenGL ES, OpenVG and Direct3D Mobile.
It is supported on a wide range of operating systems including Symbian OS.
Support for the developer ecosystem for these handsets is provided by PowerVR Insider, the market-leading technical support and comarketing programme from Imagination Technologies.

Texas Instruments has recently licensed a PowerVR core from Imagination Technologies for use in its next generation application processor family, OMAP 3 architecture.
