IAR Embedded Workbench for Renesas H8 (EWH8) includes a completely rewritten compiler and debugger with support for C++ as well as C, which offers the benefits of object-oriented programming while still generating the most compact and efficient code for the H8 MCU.
The integral IAR C-Spy debugger offers a choice of drivers for its simulator, as well as Renesas E8 and E10A-USB emulators, making EWH8 a complete environment for development and debugging.
"IAR Systems has built on its already impressive H8 compiler technology with the release of EWH8 version 2.10".
"Now that the Renesas debuggers - such as E8 and E10A-USB - are fully integrated, customers will have a complete development and debug solution", commented David Noverraz, Marketing Manager - Support Tools at Renesas Technology Europe.
Stefan Lof, Sales and Marketing Director for IAR Systems, added: "This latest release of IAR Embedded Workbench for Renesas H8 will allow us to offer the benefits of our integrated compiler and debugger technology to an even wider range of customers than before".
"The combination of efficient code generation, choice of emulators, RTOS support and standards checking makes EWH8 a must-have tool for anyone developing applications for the Renesas microcontroller family".
In common with all the IAR Embedded Workbench family, the new suite operates in an integrated, feature-rich graphical development environment that provides a user-friendly platform for continuous workflow.
In addition to the features available in Renesas' own High-Performance Embedded Workshop, the open architecture of IAR Embedded Workbench offers the important benefit of allowing the use of RTOS and other plug-in modules from third party tool suppliers including ORTI, Segger embOS and Micrium uC/OS-II.
EWH8 also supports Misra and many different object formats and debugger interfaces.
IAR Embedded Workbench is available for a wide range of MCUs from Renesas, including M16C, R8C/Tiny and M32C as well as H8, and offers comprehensive support for all the relevant emulators.
