Level shifters bridge gap between logic
and power

The safe shutdown of externally connected FETs is thus guaranteed in the event of a single error.
Typical applications include the operation of FETs from 1.8V, and 3.3 or 5V TTL- and CMOS-compatible systems, such as FPGAs, modern microcontrollers and microprocessors which require devices to be fail safe.
The inputs of the eight channels consist of a Schmitt trigger with a pull-down current source and are compatible with TTL and CMOS levels (1.8, 3.3 or 5V).
They are also voltage-proof up to 40V.
The pull-down currents have two stages in order to enhance input noise immunity and minimise power dissipation.
The eight channels have a current-limited push-pull output stage and a pull-up/pull-down resistor at their outputs.
Should the supply voltage at VB undershoot a predefined threshold, the voltage monitor actively switches the outputs to OFF state.
If either the supply voltage or the ground connection ceases, the outputs can still obtain a safe off state.
Even if two outputs are short circuited with an active FET drive with a high signal, the off state driver's ability to draw current predominates, keeping the connected FETs in a safe shutdown state.
The status of the device is indicated by open-drain pin NOK and can be used for the systems diagnostics of individual channels.
The devices are protected against ESD.
A temperature monitor protects the devices from destruction by excessive high power dissipation.
The devices operate within a range of from -40 to +125C and are available in a RoHS compliant QFN24 package.
