Awards recognise technical writing

Research kit evaluates solder alternatives
Indium Corp has developed a comprehensive solder research kit.
Eligible individuals are awarded points throughout the year based on the number and quality of their written material or presentations, and the importance of the venue (ranging from regional to international).
The award for Best Author went to Mike Fenner, who was chosen for his ability to take complex and fragmented information and make it useful and practical for the solder user.
Fenner's papers include: "Constant solder volumes for consistent assembly, a guide to solder preforms"; "Understanding the impact of Pb-free on solder paste"; "Extreme soldering"; "How to choose and implement a solder paste for Pb-free"; and "A comprehensive strategy to achieve timely RoHS compliance".
Fenner lives in England and is based at Indium's UK facility.
The award for Best Paper went to Tim Jensen, for his paper entitled "Solder paste evaluation techniques to simplify the transition to Pb-free".
Jensen lives in Utica and is based at Indium's global headquarters in Clinton, New York.
