Clock generators aim at networking
IDT has expanded its clock-management portfolio with the introduction of a new clock generator family ideally suited for high-performance communications and networking applications.
IDT's IP coprocessor product offerings will include a 32Kx72 full-ternary device, a 64Kx72 binary device, a 64Kx72 full-ternary device and a 128Kx72 full-ternary device IDT's IP coprocessor products, which integrate content addressable memory technology with high-performance logic, enable deep packet classification and packet forwarding.
These devices provide classification features that allow for policy-based routing, content-aware switching, load balancing and class of service.
IDT's IP coprocessors enable these functions by providing a flexible search width, allowing the user to configure the search to support x72-widths for deep route table entry in forwarding applications, and larger widths of x144 and x288 for deeper packet classification.
The devices assist in speeding classification functions by providing the capability to search at the maximum sustained rate.
IDT's highest-performance IP coprocessor will perform up to 100 million table lookups per second.
IP coprocessors also support IPv4 and IPv6 standards, allowing for the extension of IP addresses up to 128bit long.
The new devices augment IDT's first IP coprocessor, a custom product designed for Cisco's Catalyst family of multilayer switches, introduced in September 2000.
With this product, IDT is the current volume shipment leader of IP coprocessors in the market today.
IDT's commercially available IP co-processors are currently in adoption in the high-speed switching and routing applications of leading communications companies, including NEC.
