IP coprocessors provide flexible search width
IDT has released its first commercially available Internet protocol coprocessor product portfolio that enables up to OC-768 wire speed to support ever-increasing packet processing requirements.
In addition, the offering integrates a full suite of iGateway VPN/firewall security software and support from Intoto, the leader in embedded security software solutions.
This complete platform provides a world-class solution that reduces time to market for designers targeting the small and medium enterprise (SME) gateway applications and VPN/firewall appliances.
IDT and Cavium Networks, the price/performance leader in security processing, have also formed a partnership to offer a complete Linux-based development platform for small and medium enterprise (SME) security-accelerated gateways and virtual private network (VPN)/firewall appliances.
The platform provides a comprehensive hardware and software solution based on the IDT RC32438 Interprise integrated communications processor and the Cavium Nitrox Lite CN1001i Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) macroprocessor.
The bundled software is licence-free and royalty-free, and includes the Cavium-optimised implementation of the Linux FreeS/WAN IPSec security stacks integrated with the IDT royalty-free Linux kernel (v 2.4.18) and supplied GNU development tools.
The joint IDT and Cavium platform delivers a complete, flexible security solution that provides a high degree of security by partitioning critical security functions on Cavium's Nitrox Lite, away from the operating system where most security attacks are propagated.
Additionally, the platform provides high-performance Internet key exchange (IKE) and authentication acceleration for SME gateways.
VPN over wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions utilizing IPSec and supporting full tri-mode performance (802.11a/b/g) can also be developed on this platform by using the IDT processor's high-bandwidth PCI interface to connect to PCI-based WLAN modules.
