IP coprocessors provide flexible search width
IDT has released its first commercially available Internet protocol coprocessor product portfolio that enables up to OC-768 wire speed to support ever-increasing packet processing requirements.
It also provides the company an upgrade path for the major components in the system without a redesign of the clock tree.
The spread-spectrum generation feature provides additional insurance that will allow the IP set-top box to pass all EMI compliance tests.
"The IDT 5V9885 programmable clock generator allows us to generate the frequencies needed for our advanced video codec set-top box from a single source, resulting in a very compact design", said Hans Vind, Product Manager, Kreatel.
"Additionally, we value the programmable features, which are well aligned with our focus on functionality being software based to increase product flexibility".
"For Kreatel, it all comes down to providing operators with an easily controlled solution that enhances the consumer TV viewing experience".
"The programmable clock generator from IDT helps us achieve our goal".
The IDT 5V9885 programmable clock generator integrates EEPROM, which allows users to save and restore device configurations at any stage of procurement, manufacturing or deployment.
It supports factory and in-system programming via I2C and JTAG interfaces; it also implements the standard JTAG boundary scan test instructions.
The device integrates such components as three independent phase-locked loops with noninteger frequency multiplication capabilities, spread-spectrum generation, independent post dividers, and universal output buffers.
It also offers many unique programmable features, such as programmable output slew rate, programmable loop bandwidth, and redundant switchover modes, that were not previously available from timing devices.
"We are committed to bringing new and innovative products, such as the 5V9885, to market", said Sean Fan, Marketing Director for Communications Timing Solutions at IDT.
"We are delighted that Kreatel has selected IDT as a timing solutions provider".
"The incorporation of our timing devices into Kreatel's system further strengthens our presence in the set-top box and consumer markets".
