NSE forms a key part of MSC platform
Integrated Device Technology has announced that its 75K62134 network search engine (NSE) with look-aside interface (LA-I) is a key part in the Multi-Service Connect (MSC) platform from Avici Systems.
Delivering search speeds up to 100 million searches per second, the IDT 75K62134 offloads the computing-intensive classification task from the NPU, enabling the NEC VPN Gateway to perform a breadth of value-added services, including security, quality of service and access management control lists.
Combining strong application knowledge and technical support, IDT worked closely with NEC to optimise software development efforts that lowered overall system costs and improved time to market.
The NEC VPN gateway supports rates up to 1Gbit/s and provides Internet protocol security.
"When looking for an NSE to design into our VPN Gateway, we looked for a strong supplier with a history of technology innovation, dependability and support", said Hiroshi Ikeda, Senior Manager of the IP Networks Division at NEC Corporation.
"IDT was the first to offer a glueless LA-1 interface to leading NPUs, and they provided a breadth of software support that is unrivaled in the market".
"We are pleased with the functionality this device has enabled in our current VPN Gateway and look forward to working with IDT as we develop next-generation platforms".
IDT has a long history of providing leading-edge semiconductor solutions to NEC.
For example, NEC employed the IDT multiple-queue flow-control management (FCM) device for its ME1600 system, part of the SpectralWave series of optical access products.
