Low-power high-fidelity audio codec is designed to bring home-entertainment-level audio fidelity to enterprise desktop and notebook systems.

Integrated Device Technology has a new high definition PC audio codec, the first such device from the company since the acquisition of the product line last summer The new IDT device is a low power, high fidelity audio codec designed to help bring home-entertainment-level audio fidelity to enterprise desktop and notebook systems, while supporting mobile user capabilities such as advanced processing for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)

The IDT 92HD71B features four stereo channels, and is compatible with the Intel high definition (HD) audio interface.

The audio device provides stereo 24bit resolution with sample rates up to 192kHz.

The dual digital SPDIF outputs enable simple integration with multi-channel consumer entertainment equipment, including audio integration with system HDMI video.

The codec incorporates IDT proprietary technology to achieve digital to audio conversion signal-to-noise ratio fidelity in excess of 100dB.

It also includes extensive optimisations to minimise unwanted audio artefacts, such as "pops", during system power up.

In addition to high-fidelity low-power devices, the IDT PC audio solution provides a flexible, easy-to-customise graphical user interface (GUI), an audio effects designer program enabling system designers to optimise their system characteristics, and numerous audio processing capabilities required for home entertainment, VoIP, or other audio computing applications.

As a result, IDT PC audio solutions enable OEM customers to maximise battery life, offer advanced usage models for PC audio, provide their end-customers the ability to personally manage the quality of their audio experience, and achieve high-levels of overall audio fidelity, compatible with the most stringent Windows Logo Programme fidelity requirements.

The 92HD71B and software supports full-duplex stereo audio and simultaneous VoIP telephony by supporting multiple, independent audio streams.

Additionally, the optimised and flexible power management, including driver optimisations and specialised audio circuitry mitigates pop/click sound anomalies, offering a smoother audio experience.

The audio solution provides a mono output for laptop subwoofer and support for 1.5 and 3.3V high definition audio signalling with run time selection to enable the widest possible range of system designs.
