Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture or AdvancedTCA is a series of industry standard specifications for the next generation of carrier grade communications equipment.
As the largest specification effort in PICMG's history and with more than 100 companies participating, AdvancedTCA incorporates the latest trends in high speed interconnect technologies, next generation processors, and improved reliability, manageability and serviceability.

The PICMG executive membership has ratified the MicroTCA Specification.
This eagerly awaited specification was developed over 18 months with the participation of over 95 companies.
MicroTCA brings the robustness and reliability of the AdvancedTCA approach to market segments requiring a small footprint such as access and edge applications in telecom networks.
It may well extend into other applications including medical, industrial control and military.
The Evolving Architecture Standards event on 25th April 2007, sponsored by Wind River and Schroff, brings together technology companies and a target audience of design engineers and embedded developers.
This conference will focus on forward looking engineering-related topics pertaining to ATCA, AMC, and in particular MicroTCA.
The conference will be focusing on next generation ATCA, MicroTCA and AMC solutions, carrier grade platforms, open standards and development tools, recognising what Micro TCA can do for the design engineer in relation to time and cost savings and also convincing non telecoms engineers of the benefits of a common form factor, carrier grade reliability and switch-fabric flexibility which benefit from ATCA and MicroTCA.
As part of the day delegates will be offering one hour "hands on" sessions in the afternoon, offered on a strictly first come first served basis.
