IFR Systems has launched an AM modulator for use with the IFR2935 GSM radio test set.

IFR Systems has launched an AM modulator for use with the IFR2935 GSM radio test set The AM modulator replaces the need for separate, expensive signal generators previously required for adjusting GSM mobiles for AM suppression and minimises costly technician time as there is no need for them to continually 'make and break' RF connections

For repairing certain mobile phones, AM suppression is a requirement when setting up the receiver stage.

Developed in conjunction with Teleservice, a major GSM repair organisation, currently operating several hundred 2935 radio test sets, the AM modulator is an external accessory that technicians simply connect to the RF socket on the IFR2935's front panel.

This field upgradeability avoids the need for returning the radio test set to IFR for updating.

The AM modulator features two modes of operations - direct and AM.

In direct mode, the GSM mobile is connected to the IFR2935 radio test set and can be left in-situ for the majority of the testing and aligning operation while in AM mode, the IFR2935 signal is amplified and modulated for updating and operated for just a few seconds while the mobile's AM suppression is adjusted.

The IFR2935 is a high-speed test head that has all the protocol control necessary to carry out GSM transmitter and receiver measurements in accordance with the ETS 300 607-1 specification.

The IFR2935 is bundled with IFR's innovative Phone Test software and is ideal for cost-effective GSM handset service and test operations.

The IFR2935 test set platform offers full P-GSM, E-GSM, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 frequency bands on a single platform to streamline the complete service process.

The Phone Test allows the storage and retrieval of test and repair information, generation of warranty claim forms, repair hints based on the analysis of past repairs, management reporting and repair process tracking.

Phone Test also provides interchange of data with existing computer systems.
