Integrated Microelectronics has begun manufacturing printed circuit board assemblies for Philips Oral Healthcare.

Integrated Microelectronics (IMI) has begun manufacturing printed circuit board assemblies for Philips Oral Healthcare.

The board assemblies are for inclusion in electronic toothbrushes.

IMI is currently producing for two models, bringing in US $10 million in additional annual revenues.

The business arrangement with Philips Oral is turnkey business, entailing IMI to procure the needed materials.

Philips Oral Healthcare, formerly Optiva Corp, located in Snoqualmie, Washington, manufactures Sonicare, a high-tech toothbrush that uses patented sonic technology, fluid dynamics and electromechanical design to aid in dental care.

Philips Oral distributes its products in the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Founded in 1988, it was initially funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.

It is now a part of Philips Electronics, which bought the company in 2001.

Arthur R Tan, President and CEO of IMI, said, "We are glad that despite intense competition from low-cost manufacturing locations in the region, Filipino manufacturing excellence and value-added competencies continue to attract leading global original equipment manufacturers to do business in the country".

Tan added, "This contract with Philips Oral is also a step in the right direction towards expanding IMI's presence in the USA".

David O'Connor, Vice President for Operations of Philips Oral, said, "Philips Oral is proud to be associated with IMI.

We feel that we will be able to work quickly and competently with them".

"We have high regard for their willingness to be a true partner from the development to the delivery of quality products", O'Connor added.
