Eazix, the design service and original design manufacturing arm of Integrated Microelectronics has formed a distribution partnership with MEV Elektronik Service.

Eazix, the design service and original design manufacturing (ODM) arm of Integrated Microelectronics has formed a distribution partnership with MEV Elektronik Service, a German-based distributor and stocking representative for electronic niche components.

MEV offers procurement of electronic components and logistics services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as well as EMS companies in Central and Eastern Europe.

With the VAR (value added reseller) partnership with Eazix, MEV will also be an authorised distributor of Eazix' line of wireless connectivity ODM products including wireless local area network 802.11b and 802.11g embedded modules and adapters supporting USB 2.0, PCMCIA, mini PCI, and CompactFlash standard interfaces.

Eazix upcoming solutions available in Europe also include wireless multimedia adapters, remote automation and control solutions, and ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 and Bluetooth modules and adapters.

The Eazix-MEV distribution partnership capitalises on Eazix' strength in firmware and hardware design for wireless ODM solutions and design services, and MEV's outstanding experience in distribution to established OEMs, particularly in the telecommunications, automotive and industrial electronics segments.

Eazix President and CEO Arthur R Tan says: "We are excited about our new strategic alliance with MEV and we expect MEV's extensive marketing experience, technical expertise, and concentrated support to strengthen our position with major European electronics manufacturers." MEV President Dieter Tappmeyer says: "We have chosen to represent EAZIX ODM wireless products in the European markets because of their competitive and technically advanced solutions.

We foresee high demand coming from European wireless OEMs for wireless ODM platforms that will require more complex level of customisation, such as the solutions developed by Eazix." Research group iSuppli predicts that the number of embedded devices supporting Wi-Fi technology will increase to 167.8 million units in 2008, up from $436 million in 2003.
