Integrated Microelectronics has entered a strategic alliance with Pensar Electronic Solutions to offer more comprehensive and cost-competitive manufacturing solutions and supply chain services.

Integrated Microelectronics has entered a strategic alliance with Pensar Electronic Solutions to offer customers more comprehensive and cost-competitive manufacturing solutions and supply chain services.

Arthur R Tan, President and Chief Executive Officer of IMI, says: "The partnership with Pensar supports IMI's goal of expanding its reach in the North American markets".

"By leveraging the strengths and complimentary capabilities of both companies, we will jointly pursue outsourcing opportunities and expand customer base in the North American markets".

Pensar President and Chief Executive Officer David Steel says: "We chose to partner with IMI because of its extensive experience in handling high volume manufacturing for some of the world's largest original equipment manufacturers".

"Through the partnership, Pensar, which specialises in low to medium volume high mix manufacturing, will be able to transition volume production on to IMI as volume increases".

The partnership between Pensar and IMI not only elicits co-operation in manufacturing expertise but also in component sourcing, helping both companies to provide cost-efficient supply chain solutions.

Both Pensar and IMI stand to benefit from the expected upswing in the global EMS industry in 2004.

Improving outsourcing demand should translate into higher capacity utilisation rates and better financial performance for both companies.

Pensar's position in the medical and industrial electronics markets creates a valuable synergy with IMI's ongoing diversification of market portfolio.

IMI, which is based in Laguna, Philippines, is a global EMS company that offers core manufacturing capabilities including PCB assembly, subassembly, and complete product assembly services, as well as higher value competencies in product design, engineering, prototyping, and supply chain management.

Like IMI, Pensar offers a broad range of manufacturing capabilities from single sided through hole to complex densely populated fine pitch and BGA surface mount assemblies, and from sub-assembly operations to high-level or box build solutions.

Pensar also provides high value design as well as test services.
