Alliance targets Japanese EMS expansion
Integrated Microelectronics has established a strategic partnership with Japanese EMS company Pulax Corporation.
Integrated Microelectronics has established a strategic partnership with Pulax Corporation, a Japanese EMS company that designs and develops mounted printed circuit boards and other electronics products The partnership agreement states that Integrated Microelectronics provides electronic manufacturing services and Pulax handles fast prototyping for various electronics products, subassemblies and components of Japanese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)

Integrated Microelectronics President and Chief Executive Officer Arthur R Tan says: "We are very pleased that we have found a partner in Japan for prototyping, pilot run, engineering services, and other startup operations for IMI's new business with Japanese OEMs".
He adds: "Pulax benefits from the partnership by utilising our facilities for cost-effective and large-scale manufacturing".
Japanese OEMs contribute the bulk of the revenues generated by the Integrated Microelectronics group of companies.
At present, their share of the total revenues exceeds 60%.
"Pulax's advanced design and mounting technologies for printed circuit boards and fast prototyping turnaround time complement IMI's comprehensive and cost-effective manufacturing capabilities".
"Hence, Japanese customers will benefit from lower costs of production as well as faster time to market", according to Tan.
Integrated Microelectronics has become a key EMS industry player in Asia after its merger with Singapore-based EMS company Speedy-Tech Electronics in December 2005.
Its manufacturing facilities in China, the Philippines, and Singapore serve more than 100 OEMs based in Japan, China, the USA and Europe across various electronics segments.
Pulax Corporation, which is headquartered in Fuchu, Tokyo, has more than 32 years of experience in mounting printed circuit boards, including high-density boards.
