Software is designed to help roll out broadband services on multimode VDSL2 platforms.

Ikanos Communications has announced the availability of the LoopNostics software suite.

This line diagnostics, analysis and measurement software is designed to help service providers more quickly and cost-effectively roll out broadband services on multimode VDSL2 platforms and enhance revenue with service level agreements.

LoopNostics is available for Ikanos' industry-leading multimode VDSL2 chipsets.

It supports all standard-based VDSL2 profiles from 8.5 to 30MHz, as well as ADSLx standards.

LoopNostics offers loop qualification and characterisation capabilities based on proprietary and innovative time domain reflectometry (TDR), frequency domain reflectometry (FDR) and digital signal processing (DSP) techniques.

Using the Ikanos chipsets' advanced technologies, data is collected without the need for customer premises equipment (CPE) or additional hardware on the central office (CO) line card, even in the presence of cross-connects and POTS/ISDN splitters.

This capability minimises the need for human intervention during measurement.

Data are then analysed to estimate loop qualification parameters such as length, channel spectral characteristics, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), maximum attainable upstream and downstream datarates, bridged tap detection and loop termination for mixed wire gauges.

Operational control and reporting is achieved through an easy-to-use graphical user interface.

"By offering LoopNostics software for its industry-leading, multimode VDSL2 platforms, Ikanos is providing yet another advanced feature that can help carriers deploy VDSL2 faster", said Jag Bolaria, Senior Analyst at Linley Group.

"Service providers can use LoopNostics to prequalify the effective bandwidth available to a consumer and then offer tiered services, thus reducing operating expenses".

"Our LoopNostics software puts the power of information in service providers' hands", said Daniel K Atler, CEO of Ikanos.

"Using its extensive capabilities service providers can accelerate their IPTV deployments and minimise time to revenue".
