HDL testing moves from workstation to emulator
New from IKOS Systems, HDL Link enables customers to migrate their HDL testbench environment from the workstation to the VStation emulator providing substantial productivity gains.
Rental programme provides low-cost SoC emulation
IKOS Systems has launched a rental and rent-to-own programme, iEN (iEmulate Now).
The product includes an integrated, easy-to-use graphical front end for quick design entry, and the Novas Software Debussy graphical user interface for sophisticated design analysis.
"Early adopters of the full-featured VHDL on VStation product flow are very excited about the increased productivity this brings to the VStation emulation environment", said Linda Prowse Fosler, vice president of marketing for IKOS Systems.
"Our customers can expect to see dramatic improvements in their overall verification schedule as a result of the improved turnaround time".

Parallel verification for hardware and software
IKOS Systems' VStation-5Mx replicate station features replicated emulation systems for in-circuit and targetless system-level verification of complex submicron SoC designs.
Ramon Nunez, CEO and president for IKOS Systems, commented: "Providing our customers with a fully integrated VHDL capability is an important step for IKOS and our users.
Customers will realise emulation speeds up to 2MHz and RTL compiles of 1-3 million gates per hour, dramatically decreasing the time it takes for design iterations".
Integrated VHDL support on VStation emulators allows customers to input and debug their designs at the RTL level, significantly reducing their overall verification schedules.
This is made possible by the IKOS RTL compiler, with speeds 10-20 times faster than competing solutions, and the ability to analyse designs at the RTL level of abstraction.
Designers can isolate design problems quickly and reduce their overall verification schedule.
This new product offers incremental compile and automatic partitioning for RTL and behavioural blocks, giving users a simplified flow for bringing up their VHDL designs on the emulator.
In addition, integration with the Debussy TM GUI from Novas Software provides users with features such as graphical schematic browsing, driver tracing and source code debug.
It is expected that design bring-up time will be reduced by 50% on average, and turnaround time improved threefold compared with competing solutions.
This offering complements the Verilog RTL capabilities currently available on the VStation emulator.
VHDL on VStation will be available for general distribution in Q3 2001 for customers of the new VStation-15M emulator, as well as the VStation-5M emulator.
For new and existing customers, these new capabilities are available as an upgrade for $25,000 (US).
Entry level VStation-5M and 15M pricing begins at $495,000 and $940,000, respectively (US).
