Model-driven development for Eurofighter
Typhoon
BAE Systems is to use I-Logix' Statemate product and consulting services for development of the Eurofighter Typhoon.
BAE Systems is to use I-Logix' Statemate product and consulting services for development of the Eurofighter Typhoon Standardising on I-Logix' model-driven development (MDD) environment, BAE will significantly reduce development time and costs by enabling project teams to develop complex designs with confidence that errors or failures are rectified early, as well as increasing communication between partners and suppliers

BAE Systems selected Statemate, after extensive evaluation of leading modelling tools, for its ease-of-use and powerful simulation capabilities.
Statemate Model-Driven Development provides BAE Systems with an executable model, which acts as a "common language", removing both ambiguity and misinterpretation while improving communication within BAE Systems, their partners and suppliers.
MDD will replace the static design tools originally selected for requirements specification and design, thus enabling an iterative development environment conducive to future component re-use.
Implementing Statemate ensures BAE Systems will benefit from time and cost savings, while adopting an industry standard toolset that is supportable and maintainable moving forward.
"By moving to the I-Logix' model-driven development environment, we expect to be able to work in a concurrent engineering manner, identifying the majority of faults with the requirements and design very early in the lifecycle", said Steve Wheatley, BAE Systems Enhanced Process and Toolset LPS Group Leader.
"In addition, model-driven development will allow regression testing for identification of potential design faults, providing early qualification of design components".
"The net result is that Statemate will allow the project teams to develop complex designs with confidence that the majority of errors or failures can be discovered and rectified early, resulting in a significant decrease in cost and time".
"We are thrilled that BAE Systems has selected I-Logix' Model-Driven Development products and consulting services for this project", said Neeraj Chandra, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development.
