Newton has been a Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in the UK.
He has also been a Trustee of Industry in Education where he participated in a working party chaired by Sir John Smith, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.
The working party came up with practical proposals on how to address the gap between young people's qualities and employers' recruitment needs.
Newton is an Angel investor, acts as a non-Executive Chairman of three early stage software companies and has been involved in a number of consultancy assignments in the high tech sector.
He is 52, lives in Beaconsfield, Bucks and is married with two teenage children.
