The new Aaeon SBC-800 is an all-in-one single board computer (SBC) capable of handling the Intel Pentium 4 processor up to 2GHz+ (with system bus frequencies of 400MHz).

The new Aaeon SBC-800 is an all-in-one single board computer (SBC) capable of handling the Intel Pentium 4 processor up to 2GHz+ (with system bus frequencies of 400MHz).

This full-size PICMG SBC offers unprecedented performance with the latest technology and is Class B compliant.

Onboard features include an incorporated Intel 845 memory controller hub (MCH) for high-volume SDRAM, and configuration options that optimise the Pentium 4 processor performance.

The high speed ATI Mobility Radeon M6 AGP 4 x 8/16Mbyte offers high-quality 2D, 3D and video streams and supports noninterlaced CRT and LVDS panels with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 at 16.7M colours.

The Ethernet and audio features provide quality and performance unsurpassed in the market.

Excellent audio quality (ALC200), with up to two channels provide full surround sound capability and the dual Intel 82559GD Ethernet offers networking options that take advantage of the Intel single driver technology.

Both RJ-45 connectors are placed on the bracket for ease of connection.

Memory banks are designed with capacity and accessibility in mind.

There are three 168-pin DIMM sockets providing a total of 3Gbyte of storage space.

A Compact Flash connector is provided on the solder side of the board and can store an additional 1Gbyte of memory (IBM Micro Drive).

The SBC-800 supports four IDE devices (Ultra DMA 100), two floppy disks, four USB ports, two RS232 serial ports, and one bi-directional parallel port supports SPP, ECP and EPP modes.

This full-sized SBC can be operated without a backplane if necessary.

Also a PC/104 Plus interface allows for easy expansion requirements.

In order to offer a suitable embedded solution, the heatsink and fan have also been redesigned.

The Pentium 4 processor fan and heatsink are enormous in size and not feasible in embedded applications.

Aaeon has customised a heatsink that is not only lower in height but has been proven to outperform the Pentium 4 processor heatsink in lab tests.
