Transflective sunlight readable monitors from Impulse are ideal for outdoor applications that require clarity of picture under all circumstances.

Transflective sunlight readable monitors from Impulse are ideal for outdoor applications that require clarity of picture under all circumstances.

The market demands for outdoor LCD applications is ever expanding and includes mobile and fixed navigator/video systems, kiosk displays and public information systems etc.

Regular transmissive LCDs are very difficult to read under strong ambient light which limits the use of such displays for such outdoor applications.

Transflective technology however accomplishes what standard transmissive LCDs cannot under these conditions by the capturing the sunlight and reflecting it back through the screen.

It is similar to placing a one-way mirror behind the screen that then reflects back whatever sunlight hits on it and passes through the display.

In this manner, the brighter the sunlight becomes, the brighter the picture becomes.

The unique optical properties of the polariser doubles the amount of reflected brightness and increases the perceived contrast of the display.

Transflective technology eliminates the need for additional expensive backlighting through the use of reflective layers placed behind the glass LCD screen and in front of the backlights.

Transflective LCD monitors are available from Impulse in a number of packages including open frame, chassis, desktop and panel mount.

The range also supports VESA power management and plug and play as well VESA mounting on the rear for wall, arm or desktop mounting if required.

Furthermore, the transflective monitors are also VGA and video ready (S-video/composite) and are interfaced using a standard VGA port or video output (Pal/NTSC supported).

This reduces time and money when having to interface digitally.

The monitors also support a range of touchscreens that do not impair the properties of the displays and can be interfaced via serial RS232 or USB and include drivers for Windows and Linux.

Protective glass options are also available should a touchscreen not be required.

TFT screen sizes range from 6.4 up to 19in and include widescreen and wide viewing range options.

The monitors are powered from 12V DC and come with a mains adapter and all relevant cables and drivers.

The product range is also CE and UL approved.

Pricing starts at just GBP 399 for the 15in XGA transflective open frame model (100 off) and the product range is available for immediate delivery from stock.
