Integrated Measurement Systems and its subsidiary, IMS Japan, have sold an advanced Vanguard Logic IC Validation System to the engineering school of the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Tokyo, Japan.

The over $1 million (US) sale will provide the engineering school with a 500MHz, 1Gbit/s logic analysis system for fault isolation, debug, characterisation, and failure analysis of first silicon ICs.

The Tokyo Institute of Technology is one of Asia's most renowned schools focusing on educating design and test engineers as well as carrying out advanced research and development of complex semiconductor designs.

"The Vanguard 500 system is the most advanced validation system to date that IMS has sold into any engineering school worldwide", commented Robert Stevens, IMS' Vice-President, Asia Business, "The Tokyo Institute of Technology now will have the opportunity to provide high level training to its engineering students as well as carry out leading edge research on the most complex logic IC designs.

We are proud to have the Tokyo Institute employing our flagship product for their research projects".

IMS engineering analysis systems for validation of memory, logic and mixed-signal first silicon devices are used in the engineering laboratories of many of the world's finest engineering schools.

Besides the Tokyo Institute of Technology, IMS systems are supporting both engineering education and R and D research at England's Regional Centre for Electronic Technology (ReCET), Canada's Royal Military College, Rutgers and Yale Universities in the USA, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), as well as a host of other prestigious schools throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

"IMS is justly proud of its role in helping to educate the next generation of semiconductor engineers who will be developing the latest IC designs for the electronics industry in the coming years", stated Don Grant, IMS President and Chief Operating Officer.

"We believe that IMS technology, selected as best-of-class by the most prestigious engineering schools and IC research facilities in the world, underscores IMS' global leadership role as the premier manufacturer of dedicated engineering IC validation systems".
