Intersil will demonstrate the capabilities of Prism GT and Prism Duette wireless chipsets by wirelessly streaming HDTV video at 2.4 and 5GHz this week at Comdex in Las Vegas.

Intersil and Ubicom will also demonstrate the world's first 802.11g access point.

Designed to support the emerging, high-rate 802.11g draft standard for WLANs, the access point combines Ubicom's IP2022 processor and software platform with Intersil's Prism GT chipset to deliver true 54 Mbps operation and full backwards compatibility with the 802.11b standard.

Intersil and ViXS Systems will also demonstrate the ability to provide broadcast quality video over industry-standard wireless networks.

The demonstration - using Intersil's Prism Indigo chipset for 802.11a-compliant WLAN and ViXS' transrating XCode video QoS technology can provide up to eight simultaneous video broadcast streams to various wireless clients.

"Our highly integrated two-chip WLAN solutions are 100% backward compatible with the existing installed base of over 30 million Wi-Fi systems worldwide.

Prism GT and Prism Duette provide the same fast 54Mbit/s data rate of 802.11a (5GHz) systems while enabling the same great range advantage of 802.11b (2.4GHz) WLANs", said Larry Ciaccia, Vice President and general manager of Intersil's Wireless Networking Product Group.

"Our newest WLAN solutions such as Prism GT and Prism Duette are generating tremendous interest".
