Programmable down convertor boosts
basestations
The ISL5416 quad-channel programmable down convertor (quad PDC) is now in full production.
The ISL5416 quad-channel programmable down convertor (quad PDC) is now in full production The ISL5416 meets the need of third-generation (3G) wireless basestation protocols while supporting all existing 2G and 2.5G standards making it ideal for upgrading the capability of existing systems to full 3G capability while maintaining 2G and 3.5G compatibility

Intersil has announced a DC/DC converter for RF power amplifiers that it claims is the industry's fastest startup from standby mode with very low current and excellent transient load response.
Intersil unveils integrated light/proximity sensor
Intersil has announced the release of the ISL29015 ambient and infrared light to digital converter with infrared LED driver.
The unique filter configuration of the quad-PDC allows the integration of four discrete wideband channels in a single circuit and includes all the necessary post processing functions to complete the entire channelisation process for cellular basestation receiver applications.
This latest addition to the CommLink portfolio of software-defined radios (SDR) receives incoming wideband signals from high-speed analogue-to-digital convertors.
The device then tunes, filters and decimates the signal from an intermediate frequency to a baseband signal.
The ISL5416 features multi-stage filtering, automatic gain control and resampling capability.
The filtering capability of the ISL5416 provides better than 100dB of out-of-band filtering to address even the most aggressive 3G ACPR (adjacent channel power ratio) specifications.
"Intersil has developed advanced software defined radio circuits that meet the requirements of current and future 3G networks.
Our new ISL5416 quad PDC is a key component in new worldwide cellular infrastructure installations", said Richard Schmidmaier, Product Manager for CommLink DSP products.
"The Intersil CommLink ISL5416 is the most flexible, highest-performing PDC on the market and fully supports the expanding use of digital radios and wireless Internet applications".
The ISL5416 is now in full production in 256-lead BGA (1.0mm pitch) packaging.
