FIC picks power solutions

An Intersil product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Mar 24, 2003

One of the world's largest motherboard and PC manufacturers has chosen Intersil as the exclusive provider of high-performance power management solutions for all new and next generation PC systems.

First International Computer is one of the world's largest motherboard and PC manufacturers, and has chosen Intersil as the exclusive provider of high-performance power management solutions for all new and next generation PC systems including CPUs, processor/graphics chip sets, DDR memory and I/O across both Intel and AMD based systems, including the new VRD10 and Hammer platforms.

Intersil products designed in by FIC for its Intel-based platforms include the ISL6556A, ISL6556B, and ISL6561, two- to four-phase VRM10 PWM controllers.

These controllers provide the industry's tightest voltage accuracy, complete compliance to Intel's next-generation CPU core voltage tolerance requirements and the best phase-to-phase current and thermal balance.

For AMD-based platforms, FIC is using Intersil's new two-phase ISL6569 and four-phase ISL6559 PWM controllers.

These robust controllers work with any of Intersil's mosfet drivers such as the single-channel HIP6601B, HIP6603B and HIP6604B and dual-channel HIP6602B.

Many other Intersil products are used on each platform to power chipsets, graphics, memory and I/O.

A major feature of the Intersil chips is their easy transfer to other multiphase DC/DC convertor solutions on other motherboards making them ideal for fast design and integration of new designs.

"As a world leader in supplying computing technologies, FUC takes pride in providing a wide selection of innovative computing products", said Gene Sheu, President of FIC's Networking and Information Group.

"Our leadership position and high-volume production rates dictate that we select the most reliable power solutions from the best supplier.

FIC selected Intersil's power solutions for the Intel VRM10 power platform because their multiphase controllers provide the highest performance at the lowest possible bill-of-materials cost, while ensuring the quickest time-to-market of new models".
