Charger chip handles high-voltage inputs
Intersil has released a new battery charger with high voltage inputs in an extremely compact 2 x 3mm DFN package.
Intersil has released a new battery charger with high voltage inputs in an extremely compact 2 x 3mm DFN package The ISL6294 is a highly integrated solution that uses a constant-current/constant-voltage charging profile, which is required by single-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries
The device accepts input voltages up to 28V but is disabled when the input voltage exceeds the overvoltage protection threshold of 6.8V (typical).
This prevents excessive power dissipation and enhances charger system safety.
The 28V rating eliminates the need for the overvoltage protection circuitry typically required by devices with lower input voltage ratings.
The ISL6294 is available now in an 8-lead 2 x 3mm DFN Pb-free package.
The suggested price in 10,000 unit quantities is $0.80 for each IC.
