A novel sync separator uses a revolutionary frequency to current convertor to automatically calibrate its timing.

By using a revolutionary frequency to current convertor that automatically calibrates its timing, Intersil's ISL59885 sync separator does not require significant involvement with the rest of the system in order to adjust the timing based on the incoming line rate The device also includes a system power saving feature called HD detect that allows the system designer to control the scaler parameters

The device extracts sync timing information from both standard and nonstandard video inputs.

This timing information is critical to the detection and alignment of different formats on a screen.

The ISL59885 provides support for HDTV and standard definition formats.

The ISL59885 provides composite sync, horizontal sync and vertical sync outputs.

It requires no external programming or set resistors.

This allows maximum system flexibility as it does not require an external microprocessor or manual configuration.

Additionally, high definition video is flagged by the HD pin going low when the input horizontal frequency is greater than 20kHz.

Able to operate from a single 3 to 5V supply, the ISL59885 offers fixed 70mV slicing of video signals.

For the first time, TV and display equipment suppliers have the option to use a single sync processing path that is robust over temperature and tolerant of the variations in broadcast, video and graphics standards worldwide.

The ISL59885 is available now in an 8-lead SO lead-free finish (RoHS compliant).
