Op amps and comparators cut consumption
Nanopower single-supply precision op amps and comparators claim the industry's best supply current consumption at 450nA (maximum).
Intersil has a new family of power-efficient rail-to-rail input/output operational amplifiers and comparators that includes the new industry leader in power efficiency The ISL28194 boasts the industry's best supply current rating of just 330nA typical and 450nA maximum - less than half the supply current consumption of any competing device

Programmable up-converter simplifies basestations
Intersil has added a new highly integrated quad up-convertor to its CommLinkT family of digital radio ICs for fixed basestation applications.
This family, part of Intersil's new Pinpoint Precision analogue product line, also includes an op amp (ISL28195) that delivers more bandwidth and typically consumes 1uA of supply current, and two comparators (ISL28197 and ISL28196) that typically consume 800nA and 2.5uA, respectively.
A single-supply input voltage range from 1.8 to 5.5V makes this entire family ideal for low-power precision applications, running off of two 1.5V alkaline batteries, such as smoke detectors; toxic gas detectors; and temperature, humidity and pressure sensor/monitors.
Other target applications include low-power solar cell devices.
These devices are designed to deliver unmatched battery savings and extended operation.
First, their supply current ratings mean they consume less power while the devices are in operation.
Secondly, the devices feature an enable/disable pin that can throttle the power consumption down to just 2nA when not in use.
Operation is further extended by the input common mode range of these devices, which extends all the way to the positive and negative input rail.
This true rail-to-rail performance enables the op amp to consume more of a battery's available energy.
All the devices are available now and are housed in 6-lead SOT-23 packages.
