Expertise in the application of adhesives for crucial applications allows adhesive specialist to address special needs of medical sector.

The people at Intertronics are known for their expertise in the application of adhesives for crucial applications so they are aware of the need to maintain dispensing equipment in peak condition Applications such as electronics and medical asembly put this at a premium - especially with commonly used UV curing and cyanoacrylate adhesives

Says MD Peter Swanson: "Both these adhesive chemistries require disposable products suited to their properties and caution should be exercised in selecting the right syringe and needle (tip) system to deliver the material".

Intertronics have in stock an extensive range of tips, needles and syringes from the I and J Fisnar brand which are well suited to these situations.

Guidelines for consumable selection include being aware that UV curing products will vary in sensitivity and it is therefore possible to use a less opaque barrel, so that fluid levels can be observed; however it is important to check the specification with the material supplier.

The tip should always be manufactured using a high grade of stainless steel.

Similarly, cyanoacrylate adhesive requires polyethylene and/or PTFE disposable parts.

The polymerisation of cyanoacrylate is a reaction which occurs when the adhesives comes into contact with humidity or metal ions present on the substrates.

PTFE inserts can be provided within a stainless steel needle to avoid contact.

Good and reliable bonding comes from accurate and repeatable dispensing.

For example, cyanoacrylate adhesives work best in thin bondlines, so an excess deposit from poor dispensing will affect bond strength.

This makes it especially important that consumables match the original equipment specification in terms of precision and wear characteristics to ensure consistant, reliable quality over the lifetime of a production cycle.

From concept through development to end of life - Intertronics' consultative approach helps to achieve optimum quality and output by ensuring adhesives and dispensing equipment are correctly matched to the process...

and to each other!.
