Video IP specialist IndigoVision Group has developed a technology that allows video to be delivered over wireless and cellular networks to consumer electronics products.

Video IP specialist IndigoVision Group has developed a technology that allows video to be delivered over wireless and cellular networks to consumer electronics products, such as mobile phones and PDAs.

VideoBridge is the first software product of its kind that enables live video viewing on any Windows-CE or Pocket PC platform, including the Compaq iPaq range, Hitachi HPW600-ETM and NEC Mobile Pro 880.

The company has also announced technical clearance from Orange plc for VideoBridge-powered Orange mobile phones to receive near broadcast quality live video over a 28.8Kbit/s HDCS connection.

With VideoBridge-powered devices, people will be able to view on their PDA any type of video feed, from live TV and video-on-demand to CCTV cameras and "babycams".

In addition, up to 24 hours of video footage (such as films or sport highlights) can be recorded on a VideoBridge-powered PDA as a "pocket recorder" for viewing later on the move.

According to IndigoVision founder and CEO, Oliver Vellacott: "What makes us excited at IndigoVision is two simple truths.

First, that in less than ten years - courtesy of the Internet, camera technology, and our VideoBridge technology - anything will be able to be seen, by anyone, anywhere in the world.

Secondly, that seventy per cent of human communication is visual and only seven per cent is verbal.

We're the only company in the world with the technology to facilitate universal video.

That's the scale of our potential".
