Innoveda has enhanced its V-CPU tool to boost coverification performance through integration with Axis Systems' simulation acceleration and emulation systems V-CPU Version 4.0 also introduces a graphical user interface to appreciably simplify the hardware/software co-verification process in designing embedded system applications

This latest version integrates Xcite and Xtreme, Axis' simulation accelerator and emulator, to greatly increase the performance of the hardware portion of the coverification process.

It also speeds performance by employing a new interprocess communication (IPC) mechanism using shared memory, when applicable.

Further enhancements include a new application programming interface (API) function for passing substantial blocks of data in a single transaction, new save and restore functions, and dynamic switching of interprocess synchronisation modes.

The new version also addresses ease-of-use issues with the introduction of a coverification GUI.

The GUI has easy and intuitive forms to configure and run a simulation.

It also provides a centralised place to monitor simulation status, manage multi-threaded software simulations, and automatically launch the hardware and software simulation processes.

In addition, it includes transaction debug functions such as single-stepping and break-pointing from a centralised interface.

In response to requests from software developers, V-CPU also now supports Windows 2000 and Redhat Linux platforms, and multithreaded software applications.

V-CPU Version 4.0 is scheduled to be available next month.
