Wiring design bridges to the mechanical domain
Innoveda has released TransBridge, a wiring topology interface between the company's TransDesign tool suite for electrical system design and SDRC's I-DEAS mechanical design automation software.
This year, it decided to migrate to a more sophisticated EDA environment to enable its design team to tackle the most complex boards for its high-end products.
According to Matt Boxall, principal PCB designer at Snell and Wilcox, the company selected PowerPCB after evaluating a number of alternatives.
"Innoveda's technology stood out amongst the other solutions evaluated.
PowerPCB fully met our performance and functionality criteria.
Moreover, the interface to our existing CAD tools was the best we evaluated.
Using PowerPCB, we have been able to create complex designs within a short time frame.
Technical support is included as part of our maintenance contract and, on the rare occasions when we have required a visit, the support engineers have been very responsive to our needs.
We have also been pleased that many of the items on our 'wish-lists' have been or will be incorporated in future PowerPCB releases".
"Snell and Wilcox was able to make a clear decision to standardise on PowerPCB after experiencing the power and convenience it offers", added Geoff Hicks of Millennium Technology, Innoveda's UK VAR that provided introductory training.
"The company produces exceptionally complex, multi-layer designs requiring fine track and gap dimensions and impedance control.
Power PCB comfortably meets these requirements".
Joseph J Clark, Innoveda's vice president of alternate channels, added, "We're delighted that Snell and Wilcox put PowerPCB to the test in its applications, and found it valuable, and easy to learn and use.
Each PowerPCB installation is fully supported by Innoveda and its worldwide sales partners".
