A JEDEC-compliant Double Data Rate (DDR3) Configurable Integrated Register device will work with server memory operating at DDR3-1600 rates.

Inphi Corp has brought out a JEDEC-compliant Double Data Rate (DDR3) configurable integrated register device.

A member of the Inphi ExacTik Family of industry-leading precision timing devices, the new INSSTE32882 sets a high performance standard and extends Inphi's range of DDR2 PLL and registered buffers.

The Inphi INSSTE32882, supports all existing DDR3-800, DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333 standards as well as proposed standards for server memory operating at DDR3-1600 rates.

This new registered buffer is a DDR3-1600 product available for immediate use in the world's most advanced and demanding high-performance workstations and servers, and high reliability systems.

"Inphi's SSTE32882 Register Device represents an important first step in preparing the industry for designing platforms requiring DDR3 RDIMM memory in next-generation servers", says Mian Quddus, Chairman of the JEDEC Board of Directors and Technical Marketing Director of Samsung Semiconductor "Early availability of these devices ensures that manufacturers will be able to transition smoothly to mass production of next generation servers employing DDR3 memory".

Unlike other proposed products, the innovative INSSTE32882 exhibits a very low propagation delay, of typically 0.7ns, well below the JEDEC proposed specification of 1.1ns.

In addition, since the INSSTE32882 meets DDR3-800 to DDR3-1600 rates it allows memory vendors to use a single register for all four speed grades reducing costs and reducing the bill of materials.

"Our new configurable registered buffer significantly broadens our market lead, making Inphi the world's first logic vendor to deliver a JEDEC compliant DDR3 Register Device", says Gopal Raghavan, CTO of Inphi Corporation.

"The INSSTE32882 highlights our commitment to working closely with JEDEC and our customers to consistently meet and exceed JEDEC specifications, while drawing on our technology and manufacturing expertise to deliver the world's highest precision solutions".

The INSSTE32882 is manufactured in a cost effective 0.18micron technology and allows Inphi to meet aggressive pricing targets expected by computer OEMs.

The new configurable registered buffer is available in a 176-ball LFBGA green package.

The Inphi INSSTE32882 is currently shipping in pre-production quantities with pricing starting at US $5.80 in quantities of 2000 units.
