Intertek Automotive Services (IAS), the first commercial automotive test lab of its kind in China, is to offer new buzz squeak and rattle and EMC testing services at its Shanghai laboratory.

IAS has purchased an MB Dynamics low-noise vibration system for BSR testing.

This system is recommended for testing to the GMW7293 component and subsystem squeak and rattle specification.

BSR testing services are expected to be in place in early 2006.

IAS will be the first fully independent test lab to offer this service in China.

Also in early 2006, IAS will be installing three EMC/EMI chambers (reverberation chamber, CISPR 25 chamber and 3m/CISPR 25 combination chamber) as well as electrostatic discharge (ESD) and bulk current injection (BCI) capabilities.

The equipment will allow the facility to test to virtually all automotive OEM EMC standards: GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Toyota, VW, BMW, Audi and Porsche.

The equipment is capable of performing radiated emission testing up to 18GHz and radiated immunity testing 200V/m from 200MHz to 8GHz.

Plans call for the laboratory to become AEMCLAP Accredited in 2006.

"Intertek Automotive Services has expanded our services at a rapid pace since opening the laboratory in July 2005".

"We're looking forward to continuing our expansion well into 2006", states Brett Margolis, General Manager.
