In2Connect and Thermal Wire reckon they can solve the toughest extreme temperature wire and cable problems Manufacturing wires, cables and accessories designed to operate in temperatures from -100 to +1000C requires a great deal of experience in selecting raw materials for constructions and applications

From blast furnaces to cryogenics the two companies have that experience in specifying and manufacturing critical application wire and cable.

Insulation materials processed include Nextel ceramic braid (1200C), mica/glass composites (500C), Dupont Kapton polyimide or Teflon PFA (260C), silicone rubber/glass braided (200C), and Dupont Tefzel ETFE (150C).

In the UK, plating is generally employed on copper or copper alloy conductors to improve resistance to corrosion/oxidation at high temperatures and to assist termination.

Accepted UK norms are 135C for tin plated, 200C for silver plated, 260C for nickel plated copper, and 260C for nickel clad plated copper.

For cables operating at temperatures above 260C, copper/nickel, nickel/chrome (nichrome) or other suitable high conductivity alloys, or even Grade A nickel can be offered.
