The IIP award recognises the company's commitment to invest in its people.
The new standard introduced in 2005 now has 34 strict criteria that must be met, all designed to assess how well a company plans its business activity to involve, empower and develop staff to achieve excellence, for which they subsequently recognised and rewarded.
Imperial has met all these criteria, which reflects in business performance and internal efficiencies.
The IIP standard continues to operates using IIP's principles of commitment, planning, action and evaluation, all referring to the company's ethos on how it involves employees in the planning of business strategies.
Imperial then trains, develops, encourages and supports its employees so that everyone works together towards clear individual, team and company objectives.
This in turn, provides an excellent footing for improved performance and enhanced customer satisfaction.
In preparation for the award, the company undertook a comprehensive and challenging review process, which led finally to interviews with every employee by an IIP assessor.
What makes Imperial's achievement even more outstanding is that the company elected to be reassessed against the new IIP standard, introduced during 2005 which has more detailed and challenging criteria for staff involvement and development.
Only a small percentage of companies nationwide have as yet met the criteria of new standard.
Imperial reckons this demonstrates how it is at the forefront of IIP developments, demonstrated by its policies which value its people.
