More choice for board-to-board interconnection
Taiwan-based board-to-board specialist GradCon has chosen Imperial Connector Systems to distribute its full range of board-to-board interconnect products in the UK and Ireland.
These small outline 5Gbit/s (maximum) connectors are suitable for high definition uncompressed video and multi-channel audio applications and use a fraction of the board space (around 40%) of a SCART socket, making them ideal for set-top boxes, DVD players and high definition televisions.
As well as being smaller than previous generation sockets, HDMI connectors and cable assemblies replace the spaghetti traditionally found at the back of audio visual equipment with one easy, economical solution.
The range includes surface mount versions with either surface mount or through hole shells, plus a through hole versions with through hole shell.
With all the usual features ensuring that they conform to the HDMI standard, Imperial's HDMI connectors come with many thoughtful design features to make the products they're designed into work that little bit better.
All the connectors have friction locks and are fully shielded to give protection against electro static discharge (ESD).
Additionally, they feature grounding inserts to each side for extra mechanical stability while providing further grounding.
Imperial's range includes versions with top grounding springs for extra hold and all connectors have impedance control dimples.
Connectors with through hole shells have wide solder tabs and dimples to provide maximum board stability.
Flanged connectors, with screw mounting afford the solder joint protection from movement and additional grounding.
A vertical surface mount HDMI connector is available which has a shell featuring side wings with screw mounting.
Overmoulded HDMI cable assemblies can be supplied at lengths from 1 to 45m.
For longer cable assembly requirements equalisers can be added as the data transmission is closely related to the transmission distance and so the signal will diminish during any long distance transfer.
An equaliser provides a good solution to maintain the signal.
A braided style PVC jacket can be supplied if required.
