Marsh to be next LEOS President

Professor John H Marsh, cofounder and Chief Technical Officer at Intense, has been appointed President Elect of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (LEOS).

Professor John H Marsh, cofounder and Chief Technical Officer at Intense, has been appointed President Elect of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (LEOS) He will serve from 1st January to 31st December 2007

In 2008, Professor Marsh will assume the role of President of the Society, succeeding Professor Alan Willner of the University of Southern California.

"The focus of the LEOS organisation is to serve the laser, optoelectronics and photonics community, providing opportunities for information exchange and advocating within the broader scientific and technical community", stated Prof Marsh.

"It is critical that we continue to actively support innovation and provide the needed resources that will encourage dialogue and ensure professional growth".

"The field of quantum electronics is experiencing phenomenal change as new applications appear in a broad range of arenas, from commercial imaging to military defence".

"I look forward to these next exciting years".
