Intense is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Laughlin as vice president of sales, North America.

Intense, developer of next generation modular lasers for printing, defence, and industrial applications, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Laughlin as vice president of sales, North America.

Mr Laughlin will direct the activities of the company's new North America office, building on Intense' substantial progress to date in the Print and Imaging sector and supporting a new release of High Power Laser (HPL) diodes, bars, and stacks.

These new products combine high brightness, superior reliability, and unrivalled efficiency for industrial, defence, and aerospace applications.

Intense' laser products are already transforming the high speed digital imaging industry with best-in-class technology that reduces writing head costs and complexity while providing breakthroughs in speed, resolution, and reliability.

"From solid state pumping to material processing, demand for high power laser diodes has reached new levels as innovative products and processes emerge across market segments," stated Kevin Laughlin.

"Intense' patented Quantum Well Intermixing process delivers laser products that combine power, brightness, and reliability in ways that are revolutionising how the marketplace views solid state laser products for use in print, imaging, coding, marking, industrial, and defence applications".

"I am pleased to be part of this team, working to drive innovation and cost-effective laser-based solutions to new levels".

Active in numerous technical and management roles throughout the industrial laser industry, Kevin Laughlin brings over 20 years of industry experience to Intense.

Previously, he held the position of Vice President Sales and Marketing at Nuvonyx, where he was responsible for the company's industrial and military product lines, including high power industrial direct diode and fibre-coupled diode laser systems; micro channel cooled laser arrays, components, and subsystems; and military HELS (high energy laser systems).

Prior to that, Laughlin held management positions at PRC Laser, an industrial CO2 laser manufacturing company, then part of the Dover Corporation.

Most recently, he served as Vice President Sales and Marketing.

He also worked in various roles in product management and engineering in the laser products group at Strippit, a manufacturer of CNC automated sheet metal fabrication systems.

Laughlin is a former chairman of the Industrial Laser Advisory Board for the Laser Processing Consortium at Penn State Applied Laser Research Lab.

He is also a former chairman of numerous technical laser conferences and an active member of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA), Association of Manufacturing Technology (AMT), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and Laser Institute of America (LIA).

Laughlin has published more than 40 technical papers and articles, and graduated with a degree in Industrial Electronics and Robotics Technology.
