Lasers provide superior pump alternative
High-power fibre-coupled diode lasers are ideal for use in next generation "eye safe" thulium-doped fibre pumping applications where enhanced power and beam quality are required.
Intense has a new series of high-power fibre-coupled diode lasers created to meet the growing demands of the fibre laser industry The Series 8000 793-MFP deliver up to 3W of CW output power from a 100um core 0.22NA fibre at 793nm

Laser technology for defence and digital printing
Intense is pleased to announce Inslam, a new family of laser diode modules designed specifically for defence and digital printing applications.
Lasers are designed for high power uses
Intense will unveil a new family of high power laser diodes at SPIE's Photonics West conference, 23rd to 25th January 2007, in San Jose, California.
They are also available in a free space package with 4W ex facet.
The lasers are designed using the company's patented epitaxial growth and wafer processing technologies, including asymmetric waveguides, which increase the brightness and reliability of the lasers.
This makes them ideal for use in next generation "eye safe" thulium-doped fibre pumping applications where enhanced power and beam quality are required.
Thulium fibre lasers are used in such defence and aerospace applications as lidar and direct infra-red countermeasures.
They can also be used as replacements for existing solid-state technology (DPSS) in medical applications.
In addition to their "eye safe" characteristics, thulium fibre lasers offer medical users the added benefits of smaller size, more efficient operation, and the ability to make more precise surgical incisions.
"Our goal is to deliver the highest levels of power and reliability to the next generation of fibre lasers", says Kevin Laughlin, VP HPL Global Business Development at Intense.
"The Series 8000 lasers provide high power and reliability, and a compact design, making them a superior pump alternative to expensive, fibre-coupled bar packages".
"In addition to the eye-safe aspects, thulium fibre lasers also provide a variety of unique processing benefits for medical and industrial applications in comparison to DPSS and Yb fibre sources".
The Series 8000 793-MFP (mini fibre package) laser diodes are also available in custom packaging to match OEM system requirements.
Pricing is based on quantities ordered.
