Phosphor summit set for San Diego

The annual Phosphor Global Summit will return to the Hilton San Diego Resort on 13th to 15th March 2006.

Intertech's fourth annual Phosphor Global Summit will return to the Hilton San Diego Resort on 13th to 15th March 2006.

Dr Thomas Juestel, Senior Scientist at Philips Research Laboratories Aachen, will join returning cochair Kathryn Conway of LED Consulting in facilitating this meeting.

Last year's Phosphor Global Summit was the most successful in the event's history, with over 125 executives, R and D scientists, materials manufacturers and analysts attending from such industry leaders as: AMR, Agilent, Cabot, CREE, GE, Hewlett-Packard, Lumileds, Matsushita, Nichia, OSRAM, Philips, Rhodia, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Toyoda Gosei and Vishay Semiconductor.

In addition to a highly qualified speaker programme of more than 20 industry innovators on 14th and 15th March, there will be two preconference seminars held on 13th March.

The first, "An introduction to phosphor technology", taught by Diane Seymour of Osram Sylvania, will serve as a very basic overview of phosphor technology and applications.

The second, "Luminescent materials for solid state light sources - synthesis and application", taught by co-chair Thomas Juestel of Philips Research Laboratories Aachen, will examine properties of a range of phosphor materials and their performance in various applications.

Students at both three-hour intensive courses will be encouraged to ask questions and interact directly with their instructors.

Over 150 executives are expected to attend this year's event, from the fields of flat panel displays, large-format displays, CRTs, EL backlight systems, OLEDs, LEDs, nanomaterials, general illumination and architectural lighting.

There will also be a number of sponsored luncheons and networking functions, and an exhibit area for display of new phosphor and nanomaterials products and processes.
