Breakthrough in backlight technology
Following the recently announced breakthrough in the energy-efficiency of TFT displays, i-sft is now introducing the 100i.12SV, the first product using i-sft's new technology.
Compared with the light output of a standard display, the new backlight boasts of an improvement of 50% without having any affect on the viewing angle or any other parameters.
The power consumption of a 12.1in display including inverter at 1000cd/m2 is as low as 12W - an enormous benefit for portable appliances.
This presents a two-fold advantage for any application.
In addition to reduced power consumption, the high energy efficiency also leads to low heat expansion.
This way the whole system can be optimised regarding power supply and temperature management, reducing total system costs as well as operating costs.
The new technology is already being applied for customised developments.
An extension to the company's standard Rugged Line displays is scheduled for early 2007.
Prototypes will be presented on Stand A3.139 at Electronica 2006 in Munich, Germany.
