Fujitsu's new Pocket LOOX PDA for the Japanese market includes Insignia's Jeode PDA Edition product, continuing Insignia's momentum in the mobile device market.

Launched yesterday, the Fujitsu Pocket LOOX is powered by Microsoft's Pocket PC 2002 operating system and the 400MHz Intel PXA250 applications processor, and offers wireless communication through an integrated Bluetooth module.

The Fujitsu Pocket LOOX personal digital assistant (PDA) provides one of the industry's most powerful combinations of a high-end PDA and a modular connectivity concept.

This means that users can select the functionality that they require - always having access to the applications and data that they need, without wasting resources such as battery power on features that they won't use.

Insignia's software enables Fujitsu Pocket LOOX PDA users to download and run Java technology-based mobile services and execute Java applets within the Pocket LOOX Pocket Internet Explorer browser, combined with enhanced performance and extended battery life.

These mobile services include games, mobile commerce, business-to-business applications, email and personal management software.

"Fujitsu is a world leader in the mobile solutions sector and we are delighted to partner with them", said Peter Bernard, vice president product marketing of Insignia.

"Working together, we have Java technology-enabled the Fujitsu Pocket LOOX, which adds significant functionality to the device, as well as delivering access to new mobile services for Fujitsu's users".
