The Insignia Secure System Provisioning solution exploits the power of Java technology to enable wireless operators to upgrade the system software on the handsets of their subscribers as well as to send new capabilities over the air from a provisioning server.

This enables wireless operators to quickly deploy firmware level updates to solve customer care issues and provision system level capabilities to support new gaming, rich media, and messaging services.

Additionally, Insignia will demonstrate its Mobile Foundation handset software optimised for Intel-based processors, which supports the complete Java 2, Micro Edition (J2ME) environment with a variety of high performance and rich media technologies across a wide range of mobile environments.

"Working with Intel, we will continue to provide new products that complement our joint strategy to deliver optimised solutions to wireless operators and mobile device manufacturers, enabling them to deploy faster and richer mobile services".

Insignia's Java-enabling technology is currently shipping with Intel PXA250 applications processor-based mobile devices from Fujitsu, HP, Sharp and Toshiba.

Insignia will be demonstrating its Secure System Provisioning solution and other Java-technology enabled, Intel-based mobile devices in booth 128 in the Intel PCA Developer Network Community Showcase.

As part of the forum, Insignia will also be presenting a lab session entitled, "J2ME technology in a rich media world".
