The Takaya APT9411CE has added fixtureless testing which has further strengthened Axiom's overall test capability.

Axiom Manufacturing Services has invested in a Takaya APT9411CE flying probe test system from Itochu The Takaya APT9411CE is ideal for both prototyping and short to medium production runs, a common feature of industries such as defence and aerospace

The Takaya APT9411CE has added fixtureless testing which has further strengthened Axiom's overall test capability.

Furthermore, the system is future-proofed as it can easily and speedily be updated for double-sided operation, if required.

The positioning accuracy and the moving speed of the flying probes on the topside of APT-9411CE are of the highest level in the world for any flying probe test system.

Nick Baker, Axiom's Test Manager says "However, by combining the hardware capability of the Takaya with the flexibility of UGS Techmatix software we can take raw data from a wide range of CAD systems and very quickly convert them via this very user-friendly interface to create test programs suited to the individual customer's need".

"The speedy turnaround and comprehensive test capabilities for prototypes also adds a confidence factor which is most important at early stages of product development and, like the Takaya, the UGS Techmatix software will also be capable of interfacing with any future systems, such as ERP, in which Axiom may invest".

"Traditionally our only options were to provide bed of nails test solutions, this is time consuming, taking up to 6 weeks in some cases".

"Having the UGS software gives us the onsite capability to convert data providing near instantaneous feedback to customers".

"We can now begin programming the day we receive data, this enables us to meet quick turnaround deadlines, typically 5 working days, especially at prototype and pre-production stages, which was previously very difficult or impossible in some situations".

As Graham South, Itochu's Takaya Business Manager observes "We were of course pleased that Axiom selected the Takaya flying probe test system, but even more so when we were able to provide them with the UGS Techmatix software as well as it certainly adds an extra dimension in terms of speed of programming".
