Adhesive system replaces automotive harnesses

InteliCoat has developed a novel adhesive system for wire harness replacement in the automotive industry.
The new product - MLPCH (monotherm laminate polyester copper harness) - complements the existing MLPC range of copper polyester laminates available for automotive and electronics applications.
MLPCH laminate can be supplied with an adhesive-coated polyester overlay and used to replace conventional wire harnesses in vehicles with flat interconnect systems made from flexible circuit materials.
It has been carefully designed to withstand the extreme environments demanded of conventional wire, for example in the roof liner of a car with temperatures exceeding 100C, or on the "wet side" of a door experiencing high levels of humidity.
The material can withstand a wide range of temperatures and conditions, notably 130C for 500h, 110C for 3000h, and 85C at 95% humidity for 1000h.
InteliCoat has developed the novel system in response to the growing demand for inexpensive flexible circuit materials that are able to meet the same harsh specifications as those applied to PVC-coated wire.
Traditional copper polyester laminates and overlays have been used extensively in the automotive industry for a number of years, as they are relatively inexpensive materials for flexible circuitry in dashboard circuits, fuse boxes, horn switches, mirror heaters and seat sensors.
