Innovision Research and Technology has appointed Kevin Lamacraft as Project Manager of its new UHF Systems team.

This appointment enhances Innovision R and T's RFID design capabilities and enables the company to supply low-cost customised solutions for a wider range of consumer and industrial applications.

Lamacraft moves to Innovision R and T after nine years with Nokia Networks, where he was a Senior Specialist in basestation products.

At Nokia, Lamacraft was a lead designer for the world's first MicroCell GSM basestation and responsible for generating technology roadmaps and implementing new technology for 2.5G, 3G and 4G systems.

A highly experienced project manager, technical leader and radio architect, Lamacraft brings to Innovision R and T expertise in developing RF systems that comply with emerging standards.

Lamacraft's UHF experience in the mobile communications industry will further enhance Innovision R and T's core competencies in developing far-field RFID tags.

UHF technology increases the read-range of RFID tags and enhances the ability to simultaneously read a number of devices.

"Kevin's specialist knowledge of UHF combined with his leadership skills and technology strategy insights will be extremely useful in the development of our low-cost UHF RFID applications", said Marc Borrett, cofounder and Managing Director of Innovision R and T.

"It is an exciting time to join Innovision R and T", said Lamacraft.

"RFID technology is just taking off across many industries, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to join a dynamic company in such a high growth business sector".

Lamacraft holds an honours degree in applied physics with electronics from Bath University and began his career at the GEC-Marconi Hirst Research Centre, gaining considerable experience of optical communications and high-temperature superconductors.
